RISE ABOVE IT
By Ilana Mor    1/96

Rise above it…Life’s lessons have told,
Let the anger unfold and die;
If you don’t do it…Failure’s your goal,
Hatred’s stains on your soul will lie.

Seething anger, masked with a smile,
The pretense pervading the room;
Lips conversing about mundane things,
True feelings and thoughts are doomed.

Two unbendable minds…
convinced that they’re right,
Two bulls snorting…and ready to fight;
Puffed up, convinced that theirs is the way,
Constantly holding the other at bay.

A lifetime of wounds too innumerable to count,
Always buried for the sake of the crowd.
Minds never meeting…warm moments too fleeting,
Separated souls screaming out loud.

As the bodies grow old, must spirits be cold?
Will regrets be all that remain?
At the end of Life’s path…
choose love not wrath,
God’s truth should outweigh the pain.

Words once spoken cannot be erased,
Only one thought should remain…
Should such a heritage be passed on?
You’re gone…
and there’s only pain.

Rise above it…Life’s lessons have told.
Let the anger unfold and die;
If you don’t do it…
Failure’s your goal,
Hatred’s stains on your soul will lie.
